Recap: Newberry Panthers vs. Bronson Eagles
The Newberry Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 71-18 victory over Bronson. Newberry has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Newberry's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brandy Whitfield, who almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, ten assists, and nine steals. Whitfield hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Sarah Beaulieu was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven steals.
Newberry's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Bronson, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Newberry on the road again on Monday and play against Bell at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Bell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 494th, while Newberry is ranked 134th). As for Bronson, Bronson and Cedar Key will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cedar Key is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
