Baseball Game Preview: Dimond Lynx vs. Eagle River Wolves

Dimond hasn't had much luck against Eagle River recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lynx will take on the Wolves at 5:15 p.m. Dimond will be strutting in after a victory while Eagle River will be coming in after a loss.

Dimond is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bettye Davis East Anchorage, who was ranked 17th at the time (Dimond was ranked seventh). The Lynx were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Thunderbirds on Saturday. That 11-run margin sets a new team best for the Lynx this season.

Jaden Estigo was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Madden, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Dimond was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bettye Davis East Anchorage only posted a batting average of .250.

Eagle River couldn't beat South Anchorage on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Wolves lost 15-4 to the Wolverines.

Eagle River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Inch, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Paulo Marin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Eagle River's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Dimond, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
