Baseball Recap: Irving Comes Up Short

Irving was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mesquite Skeeters.

Carson Vasquez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Esteban Chia also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Irving's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mesquite, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Irving wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-0 loss against Poteet on the 6th. As for Mesquite, they will challenge South Garland at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. South Garland has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.33 runs per game on average), something Mesquite will no doubt try to take advantage of.
