Baseball Recap: Eastern Drops Highest Score of Season Against Henry Clay

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern). They walked away with a 17-14 victory over the Henry Clay Blue Devils on Saturday. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 9-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Ethan Carroll was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. George Bennett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

The win (which was Eastern's third in a row) raised their record to 21-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Henry Clay, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-14.

Coming up, Eastern is taking a road trip to challenge Spencer County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Henry Clay, they will be playing at home against Shelby County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
