Basketball Recap: Iris Hill Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Tabernacle Christian

Mooresville Christian hadn't done well against Tabernacle Christian recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mooresville Christian Eagles walked away with a 37-28 win over the Tabernacle Christian Eagles. This was payback for Mooresville Christian, who suffered a 53-23 loss the last time these two teams met.

Mooresville Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Iris Hill, who went 7 of 12 en route to 14 points and eight steals. Hill is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Bailey Hayden was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Mooresville Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Tabernacle Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Liz Southerland posted 14 points. That was a full 50% of Tabernacle Christian's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacy Southerland, who scored ten points.

Mooresville Christian's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Tabernacle Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Mooresville Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 27-15 win against Bethesda Christian on the 23rd. As for Tabernacle Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 42-33 victory against Heartland Christian on the 24th.
