Baseball Recap: St. Anthony Has No Trouble Against Salesian

St. Anthony won the last time they faced Salesian and things went their way on Friday too. St. Anthony blew past Salesian 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Benny Lane made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Anthony is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise. Lane was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Jason Glenn was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Frazier, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

St. Anthony kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

St. Anthony now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Salesian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Anthony will venture away from home to square off against Laguna Hills at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Anthony is facing Laguna Hills at the right time seeing as Laguna Hills is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Salesian, they will head out to face off against Bell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bell will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Salesian surely won't give up without a fight.
