Volleyball Recap: Mapleton Comes Up Short

Mapleton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the South Central Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mounties of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Mapleton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-12.

Emilee Stolcals paced Mapleton's offense, picking up 11 kills. Stolcals got some help from Addison Hess and her 20 assists. Hess was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Mapleton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for South Central, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.

Mapleton has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Monroeville on the 16th. As for South Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against Mansfield Christian on the 13th.
