After both having extra time off, the Field Falcons and the Salem Quakers will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Field is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Field took on Ravenna on Thursday. Everything went Field's way against Ravenna as Field made off with a 3-0 win.
Field's got stronger as the match went on, holding Ravenna to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-10.
Meanwhile, Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Hubbard. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Quakers have suffered against the Eagles since October 9, 2017.
While Salem had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-18, 25-20.
Field's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
Field skirted past Salem 3-2 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for Field since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
