Basketball Recap: Aleeyah Garcia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kennedy over St. Mary's Academy

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Kennedy can now relate to. They took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary's Academy Wildcats on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Commanders in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Kennedy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aleeyah Garcia, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Williams, who had nine points.

Madison High was nothing short of spectacular for St. Mary's Academy: she went 7-for-16 to rack up 21 points. Those 21 points gave High a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hazel Mills, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for St. Mary's Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Kennedy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Mary's Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 67-28 loss against University on the 8th.
