Basketball Recap: Gothenburg Swedes vs. Fillmore Central Panthers

After flying high against St. Paul last Monday, Gothenburg came back down to earth. The Gothenburg Swedes took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fillmore Central Panthers on Tuesday. The Swedes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2017.

Fillmore Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarin Tweedy, who on his way to 13 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. That's the most steals Tweedy has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Stoner, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Gothenburg has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. The win (which was Fillmore Central's tenth in a row) raised their record to 20-4.
