Basketball Game Preview: Merion Mercy Academy Golden Bears vs. Sun Valley Vanguards

The Merion Mercy Academy Golden Bears will take on the Sun Valley Vanguards at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Merion Mercy Academy and three for Sun Valley.

Merion Mercy Academy lost 54-33 to Gwynedd Mercy Academy on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while the Monarchs are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, Sun Valley came up short against Great Valley on Tuesday and fell 45-32. That's two games in a row now that the Vanguards have lost by exactly 13 points.

Merion Mercy Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Sun Valley, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

Merion Mercy Academy beat Sun Valley 41-30 in their previous meeting back in February of 2015. Does Merion Mercy Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sun Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
