Softball Game Preview: Owen Valley Patriots vs. Cascade Cadets

Owen Valley is 2-7 against Cascade since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Patriots will welcome the Cadets at 5:30 p.m.

On Monday, Owen Valley came up short against Cloverdale and fell 5-1. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cascade faced Indian Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Cadets never let the Braves get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Cadets, who have now won six matches in a row.

Grace Gray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Grace Parks was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Ava Allen, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Cascade pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Owen Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
