Baseball Recap: South Granville Comes Up Short

After soaring to 14 runs the game before, South Granville was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 12-1 to the Southern Alamance Patriots. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since February 28th.

South Granville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Wilkins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Wilkins has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

The defeat snapped South Granville's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record. As for Southern Alamance, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Granville will head out to face off against Voyager Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Voyager Academy will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something South Granville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southern Alamance, they will venture away from home to challenge Providence Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southern Alamance's pitchers better be ready for this one: Providence Grove has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
