Soccer Game Preview: Seguin vs. Joshua

Seguin is 0-8 against Joshua since January of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Seguin Cougars will take on the Joshua Owls at 8:00 p.m. Seguin has given up an average of 3.9 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Seguin is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Centennial, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 605th, while the Spartans are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Joshua). Their defense stepped up to hand Mansfield Summit an 8-0 shutout on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won six in a row.

Joshua pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five matches. As for Seguin, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Seguin might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Joshua in their previous meeting back in February. Can Seguin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
