Softball Recap: Michigan City Wolves vs. La Porte Slicers

Michigan City had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-14 to make it nine. They came up short against the La Porte Slicers, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Slicers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-4 back in April.

As for La Porte, their record now sits at 9-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

For La Porte's part, Kieanna Simpson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Simpson has posted over her last five games. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, La Porte let Madi Squire and Evie Travis run wild. Squire went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs, while Travis went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Travis has posted since back in April. Looking ahead, Michigan City will take on Valparaiso at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight. As for La Porte, they will challenge Merrillville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Slicers are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
