Basketball Recap: Rockvale Falls Short of Lavergne in the Playoffs

Rockvale and LaVergne squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Rockvale had to settle for second. They fell just short of the LaVergne Wolverines by a score of 40-38. While losing is never fun, Rockvale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while LaVergne is ranked 29th).

When it comes to explaining why Rockvale lost, don't look at Malachi Long. Despite the final result, he posted eight points and three steals. Long is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Lewis, who earned nine points.

Rockvale now has a losing record of 14-15. As for LaVergne, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Rockvale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for LaVergne, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-49 win against Cookeville on the 4th.
