Basketball Recap: Myers Park Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

If Ballantyne Ridge wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Myers Park, they should've done a better job of containing Amani Barner. The Myers Park Mustangs blew past the Ballantyne Ridge Wolves 49-22 on Tuesday with plenty of help from Barner, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 17 points and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Myers Park's points.

Another player making a difference was Summer Thomason, who posted nine points and five boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaiya Dodson, who put up nine points.

Myers Park is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points over those games. Ballantyne Ridge's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-21.

Myers Park wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-48 defeat against South Mecklenburg on the 20th. Ballantyne Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
