Softball Recap: Economedes Extends Winning Streak to Three

Economedes waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Grulla Gators. The Jaguars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gators, too.

Adrienne Tagle was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple.

In other batting news, Miranda Aguirre was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Elizabeth Alaniz also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Economedes' victory bumped their record up to 3-4-1. As for Grulla, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Economedes didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-0 win against Hidalgo on the 28th. Grulla will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valley View at 7:00 p.m. on March 10th.
