Casa Grande is a perfect 4-0 against Maricopa since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Casa Grande is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
If Casa Grande beats Maricopa with 19 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Cougars put the hurt on Catalina Foothills with a sharp 19-2 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Khiyah Barnett looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Casa Grande got a massive performance out of Adyson McClintic, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI McClintic has posted since back in March of 2024. Trinity Diaz was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles.
Casa Grande kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Maricopa didn't have quite enough to beat Vista Grande on Thursday and fell 7-6.
Elizabeth Deupree put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs.
Deupree wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Hunt, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Ariana Calderon, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Casa Grande's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Maricopa, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-11-1.
Casa Grande took their win against Maricopa in their previous matchup back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 10-3 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
