Baseball Recap: Killian Takes Down Pine Crest in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Killian rose to the challenge on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pine Crest Panthers 3-1. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 8-7 victory on Tuesday.

Zach Fernandez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Killian's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kendry Blanco, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Blanco has posted since back in April of 2024. Jonathan Acosta was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Killian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

Killian has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Pine Crest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-8-2.

As of now, neither Killian nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
