Abington Heights has gone 8-2 against North Pocono recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Comets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North Pocono will be up against a hot Abington Heights squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Comets were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over Freedom on Thursday.
Riley McColligan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Kane, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Abington Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, North Pocono entered their tilt with Scranton on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 16-4 victory. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Anna Clementoni and Areilla Bell made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Clementoni struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Bell pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Clementoni earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases, while Bell went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, North Pocono let Ellie Ambrosecchia and Avarie Roscioli run wild. Ambrosecchia went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Roscioli went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Roscioli has launched this season. Paige Dymek was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
North Pocono's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Abington Heights, their win bumped their record up to 6-1-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Abington Heights hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. However, it's not like North Pocono struggles in that department as they've averaged .411. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Abington Heights was able to grind out a solid victory over North Pocono in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 9-6. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
