Football Recap: Gettysburg Warriors vs. Shippensburg Greyhounds
Gettysburg had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it six. They took a blow against the Shippensburg Greyhounds, falling 47-12. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grant Johnson, who threw for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Preston Burnett helped Johnson out on the ground, rushing for 111 yards.
As for Shippensburg, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Mark Carothers and Damien Horan. Carothers rushed for 168 yards and three TDs while Horan gained 138 total yards and two touchdowns. Those 168 rushing yards gave Carothers a new career-high.
