Baseball Recap: Doherty Takes a Loss

Doherty lost against Pine Creek on Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spartans fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cooper Settle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Doherty is 6-2 when Settle posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

Doherty's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Pine Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Doherty will head out on the road to face off against Cheyenne Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine Creek, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Regis Jesuit at 1:00 p.m.
