Football Game Preview: Putnam City Pirates vs. Southmoore SaberCats + Official Tickets

The Putnam City Pirates will square off against the Southmoore SaberCats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Putnam City is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Stillwater just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 33-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers. The game marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Although Putnam City took the loss, they still got scores from Deshawn Buford, Shaun Brown, and Savion James.

Meanwhile, Southmoore played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Piedmont, falling 41-19. The SaberCats were down 41-11 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Putnam City's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Southmoore, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Putnam City strolled past Southmoore when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a score of 28-14. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the SaberCats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
