Baseball Recap: Oswego East Takes a Loss

Lincoln-Way East hit Oswego East with a five-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolves took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolves of the 9-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Oswego East saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devin Wheaton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Oswego East has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Lincoln-Way East, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Oswego East and Lincoln-Way East should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Wolves (ranked 142nd) will meet Bolingbrook (ranked 363rd) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way East will face off against Stagg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (2 vs. 355).
