Volleyball Recap: Air Academy's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lutheran, Air Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Discovery Canyon Thunder. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Kadets as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

Air Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-17, 25-15, 28-26.

Mae Magoon paced Air Academy's offense, picking up 13 kills. Magoon got some help from Audrey Husemann and her 15 assists. Shelbe Lyons controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Despite the loss, Discovery Canyon still got an impressive performance from Ava Grimm, who had 17 assists and 11 digs.

Air Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Discovery Canyon, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Coming up, Air Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Platte Valley at 1:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Discovery Canyon, after both having extra time off, they and Niwot will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
