Baseball Recap: Mogollon Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Mogollon had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the San Manuel Miners. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Chancy Worsley and Rocky Porter were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Worsley struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Porter pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Worsley has posted since back in April of 2024. At bat, Worsley scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Porter went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hadley Porter, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Yoyo Suarez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Mogollon's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for San Manuel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mogollon will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Williams at 2:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for San Manuel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hayden at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lobos' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Miners' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
