Recap: Oxford Prep Griffins vs. Henderson Collegiate Pride

The Oxford Prep Griffins fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Henderson Collegiate Pride on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pride by a score of 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Oxford Prep has suffered yet this season.

Despite the loss, Oxford Prep still got an impressive performance from AleYaun Heggie, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 21 rebounds. Heggie hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 14 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Thomas, who scored 11 points along with six steals.

Oxford Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Henderson Collegiate, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxford Prep will take on Excelsior Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Excelsior Classical Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Henderson Collegiate, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Roxboro Community at 7:30 p.m. Roxboro Community is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
