Baseball Recap: Magnolia Takes a Loss

The matchup between Magnolia and Madonna on Thursday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Blue Eagles lost 17-10 to the Blue Dons. The Blue Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Dons earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Conner Carpenter and Brayden Byers stepped up to the plate in a big way. Carpenter got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Byers got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI. Magnolia is 6-3 when Carpenter posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Kyrian Starkey was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Magnolia and nudges their season record down to 12-12. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Madonna, their record is now 11-9.

As of now, neither Magnolia nor the Blue Dons have any future games scheduled.
