Highland Park High School football team nationally ranked on the 2016-17 TOC.
On Friday, Feb. 17 the MaxPreps Travel Team headed to Texas to honor the
Highland Park (Dallas, Texas) football team on a tremendous championship season and national ranking. As part of the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, Highland Park held a
trophy presentation at the school's pep rally. This was the second time Highland Park High School hosted the Tour of Champions, the first being the inaugural year of the tour in 2005 when current Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford called the signals for the Scots.
The Scots finished this year with a 14-2 record and ended the season by topping Temple, 16-7, to claim the Texas 5A Division I state championship. It was the Scots first title since that 2005 season and their fourth overall. MaxPreps ranked the Scots No. 111 nationally, out of more than 16,000 high school varsity football teams. Furthermore, Highland Park was one of only 50 football teams in the country to receive the special hardware.
In front of all the students at Highland Park, MaxPreps representative Dustin Gaines began the ceremony. Gaines spoke of the team's on-field accomplishments against the best schools in the nation. He then introduced Sergeant
