Basketball Game Preview: Eureka Loggers vs. Kelseyville Knights

The Eureka Loggers and the Kelseyville Knights will round out the year against one another at at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Eureka's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Kelseyville has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

While Eureka didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They secured a 72-67 W over Shasta on Saturday. Given the Loggers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Wolves are ranked 559th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eureka's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryder Mitchell, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Estrada, who posted 17 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Kelseyville came up short against Del Norte on Friday and fell 62-54.

Kelseyville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Eureka, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
