2A District 10 recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A District 10 this week, Newman beat Carver 51-20. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Greenies.
Riverside took down Cohen 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Deuce Wallace threw for 110 yards and 3 touchdowns during the win.
The Rebels' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Hardell Mack contributed 75 yards. Von Julien helped Riverside's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 32 yards.
He went 11-14 with 0 interceptions.
Herb McGee made the biggest impact on defense this week as Riverside topped the Hornets. The 6-foot-2 sophomore pulled down 2 interceptions.
Mack was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 8 carries, he ran for 75 yards as Bill Stubbs' team beat Cohen. Kendall Martin also contributed to the rushing game with 36 yards on the ground.
Riverside's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rebels feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wallace has thrown for 1,057 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while McGee has 30 catches for 464 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Newman takes on St. James. As it stands, Nelson Stewart's team is in first, while the Wildcats are in fifth.
Wright and South Plaquemines played the most contested game in 2A District 10 this week, with Wright eventually emerging with a 22-20 victory.
