Volleyball Recap: Madison Beats Morse for Their Third Straight Victory

Madison entered their tilt with Morse on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 3-0 win. This was payback for the Warhawks, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 27-25, 25-23.

Morse's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jhiovanni Lacosta, who had three digs and two aces. Lacosta has been hot, having also posted 15 or more assists the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nowitzki Hillberg, who had seven digs and two aces.

Madison's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10. As for Morse, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison will head out to square off against Pacific Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Morse, they will venture away from home to face off against Patrick Henry at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
