Preview: Philip Simmons Iron Horses vs. Hanahan Hawks

The Philip Simmons Iron Horses will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hanahan Hawks at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Philip Simmons focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday.

Even though Beaufort scored an imposing 59 points, Philip Simmons still came out on top. Philip Simmons secured a 64-59 W over Beaufort.

It was another big night for Robert Watson, who scored 22 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Weston Coggeshall, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Hanahan's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against North Charleston, falling 60-30. Hanahan has struggled against North Charleston recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Hanahan had strong showings from Jonah Auckenthaler, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds, and Justin Maduro, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Maduro has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played.

Hanahan struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Charleston pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.

Philip Simmons' win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Hanahan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Philip Simmons have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 22.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Hanahan, though, as they've been averaging only 28.5 rebounds per game. Given Philip Simmons' sizeable advantage in that area, Hanahan will need to find a way to close that gap.

Everything went Philip Simmons' way against Hanahan in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Philip Simmons made off with a 64-41 victory. Will Philip Simmons repeat their success, or does Hanahan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
