Basketball Game Preview: Fairborn Skyhawks vs. Middletown Christian Eagles

The Fairborn Skyhawks will face off against the Middletown Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Fairborn is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Stebbins just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a hard 74-55 fall against the Indians.

Despite the loss, Fairborn saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooklynn Kimball dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Kimball is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Jayla Smalls, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 13 points.

Even though they lost, Fairborn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Middletown Christian made easy work of Dixie on Saturday and carried off a 60-34 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Middletown Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Fairborn, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
