Baseball Recap: Monrovia Wildcats vs. Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles
With a playoff win on the line, Monrovia rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles, sneaking past 5-3. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 5-1 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2015.
James Quesenbery tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaias Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sully Zinn, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Monrovia's record now sits at 21-7. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-13.
Looking ahead, Monrovia will square off against Pacifica at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.8, the Tritons 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Capistrano Valley Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
