Softball Recap: Natomas Nighthawks vs. Woodland Wolves
Natomas extended their losing streak to 13 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-17 in the process. They lost 16-2 to the Woodland Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 back in April.
As for Woodland, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-17. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
For Woodland's part, Addy Tetreault made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Tetreault has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Bria Arrellano was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Sofia Sanchez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Natomas wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 23-1 defeat against Casa Roble on the 6th. As for Woodland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Destiny Christian Academy on the 6th.
