Basketball Recap: Makenna Reynolds' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wando over Bishop England

After flying high against St. James on Friday, Wando came back down to earth. The Wando Warriors took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop England Battling Bishops. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Battling Bishops earlier this season, when they won 56-40.

Wando lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Makenna Reynolds, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 13 points in addition to six boards and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Reynolds a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Selah George, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Bishop England was led to victory by Hannah Rosato and Olivia Allen. Rosato went 7 of 12 on her way to 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Allen went 7 of 15 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Allen continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lisse Van De Erve, who posted five points in addition to nine rebounds and seven assists.

Wando's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2. As for Bishop England, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

Wando will venture away from home to take on Stratford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop England, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-29 win against Hilton Head Island on the 7th.
