Recap: Lake Weir Hurricanes vs. Belleview Rattlers
This season hasn't been kind to the Lake Weir Hurricanes, who are still winless after their eighth match. They took a 39-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Belleview on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Lake Weir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 618th, while Belleview is ranked 295th).
Belleview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Briyanna Miles, who scored 14 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Miles has scored at least 25% of Belleview's points. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Armbrister, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Lake Weir's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Belleview, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Lake Weir won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Umatilla at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. As for Belleview, they will head out on the road to face off against Citrus at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
