Basketball Game Preview: Stafford Spartans vs. Royal Falcons

Stafford and Royal are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Stafford Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Royal Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Stafford will head into Tuesday's match out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were beaten by Fort Bend Willowridge 55-14. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Royal suffered their biggest loss since January 19th on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 54-20 loss at the hands of Fort Bend Marshall. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 983rd, while the Buffalos are ranked 298th).

Stafford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Royal, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Stafford was taken down by Royal 71-30 in their previous meeting back in February of 2020. Can Stafford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
