Football Recap: Payton College Prep Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Payton College Prep can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 56-0 loss at the hands of the Hersey Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Huskies are ranked 47th).

Hersey's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Jenkins, who rushed for 111 yards and four scores on only 14 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Jenkins a new career-high. Hersey also got help from Josh Riggs, who showed off his sure hands for 114 receiving yards.

Payton College Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season. As for Hersey, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

As of now, neither Payton College Prep nor the Huskies have any future games scheduled.
