Baseball Game Preview: Unioto Shermans vs. Zane Trace Pioneers

The Unioto Shermans are taking a road trip to take on the Zane Trace Pioneers at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Zane Trace will be up against a hot Unioto team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Shermans' way against Southeastern on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-4 win. The Shermans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Logan Perdew looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Unioto got a massive performance out of Jaxon Zickafoose, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Zickafoose has posted over his last ten games. Keegan Snyder was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Unioto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, while Zane Trace put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Huntington. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Huntsmen with a sharp 8-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Huntsmen: they've now won eight in a row.

Unioto's record is now 13-6. As for Zane Trace, their record now sits at 13-3.

Everything went Unioto's way against Zane Trace when the teams last played back in April, as Unioto made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Shermans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
