Baseball Recap: Tulia's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Tulia's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the San Jacinto Christian Academy Patriots. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 14-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jarvis Pestrana was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Tulia is undefeated when Pestrana posts two or more runs, but 3-5-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Trevino, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Tulia moved to 11-5-1 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for San Jacinto Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.

Tulia will challenge River Road at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. River Road has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.33 runs per game on average), something Tulia will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for San Jacinto Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lubbock Christian at 4:30 p.m. on April 7.
