Basketball Recap: Red Cloud's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Red Cloud lost against Superior back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between the Red Cloud Warriors and the Superior Wildcats didn't end well, with the Red Cloud Warriors falling 54-37. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Wildcats are ranked 36th).

Despite the loss, Red Cloud saw an underclassman step up: freshman Josie Faimon posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Rust, who put up nine points.

Red Cloud's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7. As for Superior, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Cloud will head out to face off against Heartland Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Superior, they will face off against Deshler at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Deshler will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Superior surely won't give up without a fight.
