Soccer Game Preview: Harker Heights vs. Shoemaker

The Harker Heights Knights will challenge the Shoemaker Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Harker Heights has three straight wins, Shoemaker has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Harker Heights' defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They skirted past Copperas Cove 1-0. Given Harker Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Copperas Cove are ranked 703rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Shoemaker after they claimed the first goal on Tuesday, however, they wouldn't score again. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Copperas Cove. That's two games in a row now that Shoemaker have lost by exactly two goals.

Harker Heights' victory bumped their record up to 9-2-1. As for Shoemaker, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10-2.
