It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hopkins ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Zeeland East Chix 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since May 11, 2024.

Hopkins let Lyla Reynolds and Ava Vanderkolk run wild. Reynolds went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Vanderkolk went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Reynolds has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Calleigh Washburn, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Hopkins hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Hopkins' win bumped their record up to 5-7-1. As for Zeeland East, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Hopkins will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chix: the pair will be back at it again later today.
