Recap: Sam Rayburn Texans vs. Needville Bluejays
The Sam Rayburn Texans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. Their tough 76-56 defeat to Needville might stick with them for a while. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Needville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bohdan Zeitz, who scored 23 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Zeitz has scored at least 25% of Needville's points. Keilan Sweeny was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Sam Rayburn's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-9. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Needville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Sam Rayburn will be playing at home against Alief Taylor at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Alief Taylor presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sam Rayburn in Texas (Alief Taylor is ranked 553rd, while Sam Rayburn is ranked 1220th). As for Needville, they will head out on the road to face off against Lamar Consolidated at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lamar Consolidated focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
