Lansing got a massive performance out of Kennedy Perine, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Those four hits gave Perine a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Nolan, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lansing kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour entered their tilt with Palmyra-Macedon two weeks ago with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They had just enough and edged out the Red Raiders 4-2.
Paige Ells was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Ells wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keira Ells, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Lansing, their record is now 9-7-1.
Lansing couldn't quite finish off Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour when the teams last played back in April and fell 11-9. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
