Preview: Phoenix Spartans vs. Belle Chasse Cardinals

Phoenix is 8-2 against Belle Chasse since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Phoenix Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Belle Chasse Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Phoenix's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They blew past South Plaquemines, posting a 66-33 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Phoenix has posted since November 3, 2023.

Phoenix can attribute much of their success to DERVONTE ANCAR, who scored 18 points, and RONDELL BATTLE, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which BATTLE has scored at least a third of Phoenix's points. JAYLON MARTIN was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

Meanwhile, Belle Chasse unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Hammond by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (59), Belle Chasse still had to take the loss.

Belle Chasse's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kyle Reeves, who scored 21 points along with two steals, and Jaylen Hughes Ingram who scored 16 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was MJ Bacani, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Phoenix's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Belle Chasse, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Phoenix hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 53.6 points per game. It's a different story for Belle Chasse, though, as they've been averaging only 57 points per game. The only thing between Phoenix and another offensive beatdown is Belle Chasse. Will they be able to keep them contained?

Phoenix couldn't quite finish off Belle Chasse in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 60-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Belle Chasse's Bryce Louviere, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Now that Phoenix knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
