Softball Recap: Anderson Takes a Loss

Anderson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 12-2 to the Central Valley Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 two weeks ago.

Kolbee Wimmer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and six unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Anderson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominique Crandall, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Crandall has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Anderson's record now sits at 1-11. As for Central Valley, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-7.

Anderson and Central Valley will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Cubs see the field they'll take on University Prep at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Central Valley, their break will end when they face Yreka at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
